Top tips to start your day

Hydration and exposure to natural light - two of the best things we can do to start the day (before reaching for our phones or any form of caffeine).

Why hydrate on waking? Our bodies naturally dehydrate whilst sleeping - for a start we cannot actively hydrate during this time and water is used in many biological processes in the body during sleep; and we lose water from sweating and breathing (every time we exhale) at night.

For adequate hydration on waking I always recommend a glass of filtered water with a pinch of sea salt and squeeze of lemon (or sometimes I’ll have celery juice), before any caffeine 😊

Why exposure to natural light? This informs the body it is the start of the day, to naturally wake it up and set the circadian rhythm for the rest of the day - which then supports all systems in the body, as well as helping you to sleep at night!
