Let's get back to food freedom.

You 'should' eat this, you 'should' eat that...

Ever feel overwhelmed by what the media, books or studies tell you you 'should' eat to be healthy and to avoid 'x', 'y', 'z' as they cause "fill in the blank".

There is so much nutrition information out there, some helpful, some not, almost all of it is general and there is a lot of misinformation. Sometimes I get asked by people "what should I be eating?" or they'll feel completely disillusioned by it all and say "I'm not even sure what I should be eating anymore".

I totally get it. I've been there.

Of course there are specific foods which support health I'll always recommend - wholefoods such as vegetables, fruit, wholgrains, beans, legumes, nuts and seeds.

But let's remember we are all different and are also intuitive beings with nutrition requirements which change day-by-day and over time. What might work for you might not work for someone else, and vice versa. In addition, sometimes what you feel like eating is your body indicating a nutritient it might be low on i.e. chocolate cravings can indicate a lower magnesium status. Or for example, you might just fancy enjoying a really good Danish pastry (I'm never able to resist 🙈 - anyone else the same?!) or pizza etc out with friends.

My point being - step away from the dogma and forget the 'food rules', whatever they claim to be. Eat what you feel your body needs, in moderation and the best quality you can afford. Listen to your body. How it responds to the food you eat can be an indication of whether that specific food supports your wellbeing or not.

And if there are specific foods that don't agree with you or you have a persistent health condition or just don't feel great, get in touch and see how personalised Nutritional Therapy can help to support your body in getting back to balance.
